Domestic Certificates
Energy Performance Certificates (E.P.Cs) for domestic customers give information on how to make your home more energy efficient and reduce your energy costs. By law, all homes that are sold or let in the UK require an Energy Performance Certificate.
Commercial Certificates
All Commercial properties being sold, let or having a lease reassigned, are required by law to have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). The survey for a Commercial Energy Performance Certificate is more detailed than the Domestic Energy Performance Certificate and usually takes considerably longer due to the size and elements involved. Heating, Lighting and activity have a greater bearing on the rating, than with Domestic E.P.Cs.
The Green Deal
The Green Deal scheme offers the opportunity to all homeowners, tenants and businesses within the United Kingdom to receive certain energy efficiency improvements without any upfront cost or capital outlay. This Green Deal Finance will be attached to the property's energy bill and the repayment schedule for the Green Deal will be calculated in such a way that the repayments are less than the resulting energy bill savings, so that the owner of the property or business will be financially better off. This is known as the golden rule and is important when making the necessary calculations and submissions.
